Broadcast: July 16th 2017
Presenter: Scott Taylor
Today we are in Margaret River, in the south west of Western Australia visiting Olio Bello olive oil producers, where you will see why their ‘liquid gold’ is worshipped by chefs from around the globe.
- Olive oil can make or break a dish which is why quality is important, and to the people of Olio Bello, this is not taken lightly.
- With over 8000 trees on the 320 acre property, Olio Bello boasts 14 varieties of olives which they use to make their highly sought-after range of extra virgin olive oil.
- Olio Bello was started about 25 years ago, with its sole focus on making the best olive oil in the region.
- The methodology behind their practise is that care is what makes their oil stand out from the rest. By caring for the trees right through to the pressing of the olives, the people of Olio Bello can achieve the high quality that makes their oil so fantastic.
- By bottling the oil immediately after pressing, the flavour is intensified, leaving a rich smoothness with a bitey pepper finish that chefs know and love.
- Aside from the great taste, olive oil is also full of health benefits, such as being rich in antioxidants and having low cholesterol.
